Rock Sound Club

MLS: 8094
Price: $3,300,000

This former boutique hotel is steeped in history and ripe for development. Located on the gorgeous island of Eleuthera and a couple of miles north of the charming village of Rock Sound, it comprises five cottage buildings, each with four 1-bed 1 bath units, and a 3 bedroom 2 bath residence. Just a few minutes from incredible white sandy beaches, the old Rock Sound Club also has staff quarters and a pool area. The main dining room and bar can seat 40 people. The club is a 5 minute drive from the Rock Sound International Airport. It was built in the 1940s by real estate tycoon Arthur Vining Davis. Davis was president of Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA). He was awarded the presidential certificate of merit for ensuring that the US government had enough aluminum in World War II. Another American business giant, Juan Trippe, later purchased the Rock Sound Club from Davis. Trippe helped transform South Eleuthera into a destination of choice for the upper crust. The founder of Pan American World Airways, Trippe developed the Rock Sound International Airport and Eleuthera's all exclusive Cotton Bay Golf Club and beachfront community. Pan Am, as it was known, was founded in 1927 and became America's unofficial flag carrier. It shaped the international airline industry and pioneered regular air service to the Bahamas. The Rock Sound Club is offered for sale at $3,300,000. The history is free.
